Election 2008

As I'm sure you know, today was Election Day! And arguably the most important vote of our lives! It's a vote that could possible take the United States in a completely different direction...scary and exciting! I stood in line for 1 whole hour with 21 pound Allie on my hip to cast my vote this morning and Bubba voted for the very first time this afternoon! The voter turnout has been AMAZING and even though my arm and hip are numb I gladly stood there and would have stood longer if need be, this election is that important! As most of you know, I have been OBSESSED with politics the past year. Anderson Cooper and Larry King are now my two favorite shows! I don't know what I'm going to do now that the election is over! Since March I have ran to my computer every afternoon to see if Obama had beat Hilary in a primary race or lately to see if Obama was beating McCain and if he was by how much. I sat literally on the edge of my seat, a nervous wreck during all 4 debates. And I swear I can resite both candidates stump speeches! All that leads up to tonight when I will sit anxiously watching the state votes come in (I can't wait). No matter who wins I honestly will be happy and relieved that some sort of change will take place. I have a great amount of respect for both candidates. Everyone knows how I feel about Obama but I also think that John McCain is an incredible person, a true American Hero and I like how he can always pull out a couple jokes, he's a pretty funny guy! I think everyone can agree the George Bush has been an awful president especially these last 4 years. The time for change is now! I hope everyone got out and voted today! Standing in line I almost chocked up (if I hadn't had my tubes tied I would swear I was pregnant as emotional as I've been lately). Less then 100 years ago African Americans and Women were not able to cast a vote...what we thought didn't matter and our opinion wasn't valued. Today we are casting a vote for either the first African American president or the first women vice president...gives me chills to think how far we've come as a nation! Take advantage of the RIGHT our ancestors fought for, and VOTE!
